Details: The Bridge Hotel is Located between Buttermere and Crummock Water and surrounded by the famous Buttermere Fells, and in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The hotel has a long and fascinating history and is on a site which has been inhabited for over 1000 years. More recently the hotel has been owned and managed by the McGuire family for in excess of 28 years, and is renowned for warm hospitality, comfort and personal service, complimented by excellent local and international cuisine.

This is an ideal location for exploring the quieter and more scenic northern area of the English Lake District National Park. It is also close enough to the bustling southern lakes for easy access as required, and thus makes an excellent base for a holiday or short break.

Right on our doorstep are the two beautiful lakes of Buttermere and Crummock Water which provide excellent low level walks, fishing and boating. For the more experienced walkers and climbers, the extensive and world famous mountain ranges, such as the 'Buttermere Round' (Red Pike, High Stile and High Crag) along side Fleetwith Pike, Rannerdale Knotts and Wainwright's favourite mountain Haystacks, provide superb and exciting high level adventure with stunning views.

Just three miles away is the Whinlatter Forest Visitor Centre which has many woodland walks as well as interesting nature-related activities for adults and children of all ages. Other activities include bird-watching in the surrounding area, breath-taking views for practicing art enthusiasts and many photo opportunities.

Close by is Keswick, a traditional Lakeland town directly on the shores of the beautiful Derwentwater. Here you can take in a show at the newly built and nationally acclaimed 'Theatre by the Lake', cruise courtesy of the Keswick Launch Company or spend a happy afternoon shopping in one of the many and diverse shops. Accommodation
The Bridge Hotel offers 21 individually designed bedrooms, all with excellent en-suite facilities, and are well furnished and constantly upgraded. Several rooms have four-poster beds, and all have direct dial telephone and internet access. Televisions and radios are not provided because of poor local reception due to the surrounding fells - many of our guests consider this a distinct advantage!

The hotel in strictly no smoking and we regret pets are not accepted.

Dining
Guests can enjoy breakfast every day in our dining room where a full English breakfast is available, all made where possible with the finest local Cumbrian ingredients. A lighter continental selection is also on offer.

For lunch and/or dinner the Bridge Hotel has a number of dining options on offer, together with a choice of over fifty wines carefully selected to complement your meal. The bars are open all day, and serve excellent food and a comprehensive range of hot beverages. We specialise in real ales, which are expertly kept. We offer a homemade selection of traditional English bar luncheons and suppers, including local dishes such as Cumberland Sausage, Cumberland Hot Pot and for fish lovers, delicious Borrowdale trout and local salmon. Vegetarian options are always available and packed lunches by arrangement.

The dining room is one of the oldest in the hotel, and is furnished to a high standard. A five course table d'hote dinner, with a number of choices, is always on offer and changed daily.
