Halsteads is situated in a quiet village in the South Lake District close to the coast as well as the fells. It is only 15 minutes away from the festival market town of Ulverston, 20 minutes from Coniston or Barrow and 45 minutes from the Central Lakes. Travel to Halsteads is easy even in peak holiday season; the majority of the route on trunk roads through lovely scenery after leaving the motorway.
From the house there are spectacular views over Kirby Pool, the Duddon Estuary and Mosses and on a very clear day to the Isle of Man. Over thirty tops are visible including Coniston Old Man, Stickle Pike, Black Coombe and Scafell. It has a pastoral setting with sheep in the meadows behind.
Village amenities include two pubs, a railway station, Post Office and well stocked village shop, sports facilities and a children’s play park, churches and health centre. It is an excellent area for walking, cycling and wildlife as well as sightseeing and historical interest; the Cumbria Coastal path runs five minutes from the door. Banks and more extensive shopping and leisure facilities can be found in Ulverston or Barrow-in-Furness. Halsteads lies within the Tesco home delivery area for the convenience of internet shopping ordered from home to be delivered on your arrival.

a pleasant mix of modern and traditional styles and a high standard of housekeeping and attention to detail. This spacious bungalow has three bedrooms (comfortably sleeping a maximum of 6); an impressive main lounge and smaller day room; two toilets, bath, separate shower; farmhouse style kitchen; a sun terrace and gardens to front, side and rear. It has private parking for up to 4 cars, with space to open car doors fully allowing easy access for people with small children or minor mobility problems. It is double glazed and fully central heated (gas boiler).
The three bedrooms all have Myers memory foam topped double sprung mattresses for ultimate comfort (see comments from the guest book!). There is a king sized double in the master bedroom, standard double in bedroom two and twin full sized singles in bedroom three. They all have good quality, low allergy bedding. The master bedroom and bedroom two both have fitted furniture and bedroom three has a spacious wardrobe and small chest of drawers. A hair dryer and hot water bottles are available. Bedding and towels are included in the price.
The main lounge has leather sofas, occasional tables, TV with free sky/video and DVD, a variety of lighting to suit all needs and moods, and a solid fuel stove. Fuel can be supplied at extra cost (POA) or you can sort out your own.
Hygiene facilities consist of a family bathroom with a full size shower separate to the bath, and a second cloakroom and wash basin.
The day room over looks “the view” and has casual seating, a small table, a comprehensive selection of information and books: local interest, children’s books, novels from several genres and nature text books. There is also a local OS map and CD/radio. Games and toys can be found in the lounge wicker chest and wardrobe in bedroom two.
The superb farmhouse kitchen is very well equipped for those who like to cook and has all equipment: double electric fan oven, microwave, 5 ring hob, dishwasher, washer and dryer and fridge/freezer. There is a large dining table and chairs and washing up is a pleasure, if done by hand, as you look out at our wonderful panoramic view.
The sun terrace is to the side of the house and offers a gas BBQ and picnic table for al- fresco dining. The garden gets lots of sunshine and is well maintained and a positive pleasure to look at. It is planted for all year round interest and the mature trees attract a lot of wild birds as well as providing a sheltered and private environment.
We have a cot (including bedding) and high chair available for babies and toddlers, and a perching stool, shower stool and toilet frame for elderly clients comfort and safety. These can be requested at no extra cost.
