Watch the sun rise over England's largest lake ,at Low Wray National Trust Campsite, and enjoy the magnificent views across the water to Wansfell Pike and The Fairfield Horseshoe. A range of watersports is available on-site.
Situated on the western shore of Windermere, Low Wray is the perfect base for a whole range of outdoor activities. There are opportunities for gentle walks and great off-road biking from the campsite. The quiet country lanes will also prove attractive to cycle tourers. Leave the car behind and explore the area on foot, by bike or by boat.
Low Wray is an ideal base for lovers of watersports including windsurfers, canoeists and dinghy sailors, with on-site access for launching ( no powered craft )
New arrivals need to check in during reception opening hours between 3pm and 7pm (Sunday to Thursday & 3pm to 9pm Fridays) as a barrier card is required to gain access to the site. We also recommend you book online in advance as tents are distributed on a first come first server basis.
Two great Lakeland pubs lie within a two-mile radius of the site providing excellent pub food. Ambleside and Hawkshead are just a few minutes drive away, and the Beatrix Potter Gallery are also a short drive or an excellent walk away. Low Wray is close to all central Lakes attractions including several NT Houses and Gardens.
As UK Escapes are all about getting back to nature, there are no fridges or electricity in any of our tents. We have though included a cool box (ice packs available on arrival) and lanterns with rechargable batteries provided.
