Skelwith Bridge Hotel is a romantic, award winning luxuriously appointed three star, seventeenth-century Lakeland Inn set at Skelworth Bridge near Ambleside in the Lake District. A charming hotel in a fantastic location!
Skelwith Bridge has been carefully and sympathetically developed and extended, there still remains the charm and atmosphere of the 17th century hostelry with it’s mellowed oak beamed ceilings and many period features.
Enjoying a great location in the heart of the Lake District National Park, making the hotel an ideal base to explore and enjoy the wealth of activities available, including walking, sailing and cycling.
Visit the historic homes of Wordsworth, Ruskin, Beatrix Potter or just simply relax. Guests can explore the magnificent views around Loughrigg Tarn just a short ten minute walk from the hotel, where the latest blockbuster film “Miss Potter” was filmed.
Accommodation: Our 28 bedrooms are all individually designed to suit every occasion. You can choose from well appointed double, twin or single rooms to four poster rooms with corner jacuzzi baths. Most of our rooms have views of the fells, open countryside and the river Brathay. Well behaved dogs can stay in bedrooms and use the public areas with the exception of the restaurant.
The Restaurant: overlooking the gardens and river Brathay beyond, enjoys a daily changing four course menu complimented by a selection of wines from around the world.
