Wallabarrow Camping Barn
Broughton-in-Furness, South Lakes

Details for Wallabarrow Camping Barn

Wallabarrow Camping Barn is operated by the National Trust and has been restored to now offer excellent camping barn style accommodation. There is accommodation for up to ten persons and can be booked all year round either for individuals or sole use.

The ground floor consists of a large living area with woodburning stove, tables, pews and well-equipped kitchen with hot water. The kitchen has an electric cooker with four rings, toaster, kettle, fridge and plenty of crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and cooking utensils.

The first floor comprises a large communal sleeping area with a stack of 10 mattresses with mattress protectors. There are beautiful views towards 'Caw' and the Dunnerdale fells.

The toilet and shower are in separate buildings. The shower room has recently been upgraded. Our water is UV treated but is not on the mains so we use carefully and there is £1 meter for the shower.

There is a secluded garden and picnic area in a newly planted orchard. You are encouraged to bring your own wood for the woodburner or you can buy them at a cost of £12 per large basket and kindling (should do two evenings).

The Newfield Inn is a delightful 15 minute walk through Wallabarrow Woods and is open from 11am every day serving cask ales and good food. If you are a large group and want to eat at the pub on a Friday or Saturday night it is worth booking a table in advance (01229 716208).

The Blacksmiths Arms at Broughton Mills (4 miles) is open set hours, the beer is good and the food excellent (01229 716824).
