Airborne Pursuits

The Lake District is one of the most mountainous areas of England and is home to the largest English peak, Scafell Pike, at over 3,000 feet. The combination of peaks and beautiful, sparsely populated countryside makes this region ideal for airborne pursuits. Some of the more popular activities include, parachute jumping, microlighting, skydiving, gliding and parascending. A little to the North of the Lake District in Carlisle, is a well-established flight school where you can learn to fly small aircraft and helicopters in a truly breathtaking setting. A relative newcomer to the world of airborne pursuits is the sport of skysurfing, where free falling sky divers use boards to travel horizontally, surfing on thin air. This is practiced at the North West Parachute centre.
