Cane and Rush Seating demonstration by David Bowen 14 & 15 April 2012, at Yew Tree Barn - David will be demonstrating the various traditional techniques and styles, and you are welcome to bring along items for him to advise on.
Lakeland Sinfonia Concert Hallé - 14th April 2012 - Lakeland Sinfonia Concert Society present their annual top quality music event. Each year the society hosts a series of performances in lakes leisure Kendal's Westmorland Hall on the edge of the Lake District. Some are subscription concerts, although tickets are available with additional sought-after performances by the Halle and BBC Philharmonic. There's also a Christmas charity concert and over the years, £000's has been raised for local good causes.
Damson Day, 14th April 2012 - Come and join the fun on Damson Day where there's music, entertainment, blossom walks, orchard advice, dog displays, spring lambs, piglets, puppies and ferrets. Refreshments, good food, and a chance to try damson gin. The blossom walks are a feature and there is a chance to see local crafts, buy plants, savour various damson products and play crazy golf. There is a fun fair for children and there are the orchard sketch work-shops for budding artists. All this, and more, on a day out in the country to help celebrate the unique damson orchards of the Lyth Valley.
Ulverston Walking Festival, 27th April to 6th May - There will be about 35 walks, covering history, geology, flora, fauna, etc. Each walk will cost £2. There will also be walk related events, such as slideshows, etc. Programmes will be available from Ulverston Tourist Office (01229 587120).
