The Lake District Summer International Music Festival 28th July - 12th August 2012 - Enjoy this special event, set against the stunning scenery of the English Lake District and featuring some of the best artists from the world of classical music as well as emerging young professional performers.
Cartmel Show 1st August 2012 - Come and have a great day out at a traditional country Show set in the heart of beautiful South Lakeland."The most comprehensive and picturesque show in the North".Cartmel Show is always a firm favourite with both visitors and locals. The Show, held on the first Wednesday in August, offers a profusion of family entertainment packed into the picturesque parkland setting at Cartmel Racecourse. A traditional Country Show with its roots firmly within the agricultural community, Carmel Show provides the opportunity to sample the delights of rural life at its best.
The Lunesdale Agricultural Show 14th August 2012 - the Lunesdale Agricultural Show attractions will include Horse & Pony Classes (including light & heavy horses, native ponies, coloured, private driving and British show jumping), Holstein, Jersey and Beef Cattle, Sheep, sticks and crooks, poultry, home industries and produce including classes for cakes and preserves, dog show, craft marquee, food hall, vintage vehicles plus Cumberland & Westmorland Wrestling.
Vale of Rydal Sheepdog Trials & Hound Show 16th August 2012 - takes place at Rydal Park, Ambleside and features sheepdog trials, beagle, harrier and hound show, hound trails, stick show, gun dog demo and dog dash.The Rydal Show also has over 20 trade stands offering country life shopping including clothing and accessories, art and displays. A licensed bar will available and food will include full catering using local produce from a seated catering tent, as well as sandwiches, cakes, Cumberland sausage and burgers.
Lowther Game and Country Fair,11th - 12th August 2012 - The Lowther Estate is situated amidst the beautiful Cumbrian countryside and the Lowther Game and Country Fair takes place on the second weekend in August every year. Prescribing to the award-winning formula that has made each of Countryman Fairs' shows so successful, the Lowther Game and Country Fair will bring together world-class sporting championships, top-class demonstrations and hundreds upon hundreds of top-line, quality driven exhibition stands for visitors to truly indulge in and experience.
The Lakes Annual Chilli Fest August 2013 - held at Levens Hall near Kendal andh attracts chilli aficionados and stall holders from all over the country. The growing popularity of hot food together with the ever-growing range of chilli products has prompted this entertaining weekend.The hottest chillis around will be available to taste, whilst on sale will be chutneys, jams, sauces, chocolate, seeds, rubs and powders, chilli smoothies, clothing, plants, breads and wine suitable for spicy foods and many chilli-related gift items. There will be a variety of stands selling hot food to eat straight away and stands selling food to take away to freeze or eat at home.
Brough Agricultural Show Thursday 16th August 2012 - Brough Agricultural Show is organised by the Brough Agricultural Society. Competitions for ponies, sheep, poultry, horticultural vegetables & flowers, confectionery, needlework, etc.Venue is Leacett Lane Brough, Cumbria,CA174.

Solfest Music Festival August 24th to 26th 2012 - Located near Aspatria, West Cumbria, Permanently featuring in the Best Family Festival category of the UK Festivals Awards and set atop a Cumbrian hillside, Solfest is back for a glorious eighth year this August bank holiday. Whilst boasting an assault course of kids' activities to tucker out a small army there's also over 100 acts from the musical worlds of indie, world, rock, folk, dance and roots including Cast, The Stranglers and Camille O'Sullivan. What with a view of the Lake District, the Galloway Hills and Isle of Man, Solfest also features seven stages and various tents for open-mic sessions, a Solar cinema, an indoor market and local food stalls.
Hawkshead Agricultural Society Show 21st August 2012 - traditional craft and trade stands, horse classes, dog shows, sheep classes, stick classes, hound trailing, horticultural, floral art and homebaking. Refreshments available.The main attraction is a sheepdog and duck driving display, scheduled for approx. 2:00pm. Other classes and displays will include heavy horses, light horses, working hunter, shetland ponies, fell ponies, private driving, show jumping, mountain and moorland, terrier, fox hounds, hound trails, local sheep section and a wild bird display. Also industrial produce and baking, horticulture, floral art, children's pets and pet classes. There will also be a catering tent and trade and Made in Cumbria stands.
The Grasmere Sports & Show 26th August 2012 - one of the longest running Lake District sports events. It features traditional sports from Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling to fell running, hound trailing and Tom Longton's Sheepdog display. Also more modern sports such as Mountain Bike Racing are included. Additionally, there is a Terrier and Pet Dog Show, Gundog display and a family Tug of War competition.
