Cafes & Tea Rooms
The Lake District is one of the most popular destinations for walkers in England and is often frequented by foreign tourists. Visiting a traditional English tea room or café is almost as important as the walk itself on any cross-country jaunt. Experienced walkers will plan their route from one village café or tea room to the next. They are an essential part of the experience for many walkers, a place to sit and rest weary legs and sometimes provide the motivation to carry on when the going gets tough. One of the most exciting tearooms, sure to please chocoholics is The Chocolate House in Kendal. Here they stock over a dozen gateaux and 18 drinks made from chocolate. Staff are dressed in 18th century clothes making this a truly unique outing.
