Appleby-in-Westmorland

Appleby-in-Westmorland is a historic town set in the Eastern Lake's in the centre of the beautiful Eden Valley. The River Eden is close by and the town is overlooked by the Pennines with the Lake District National Park just to the west. Originally the principle town of the county of Westmorland this is without doubt one of the prettiest towns in Northern England.

Appleby has maintained its old world charm, the historic street of Boroughgate, boasts many interesting old buildings, and links the ancient Norman Castle with the beautiful medieval St. Lawrence Church. With riverside walks within five minutes of the market square this town is a perfect base for exploring the area.
