Wigton
Wigton is a small medieval market town just outside the Lake District in Cumbria. In the charming triangular market place there stands an impressive granite and bronze memorial fountain, which was built in 1872 and replaced the original wooden market cross. A meander through the streets uncovers many sites of interest, with historic buildings and impressive Georgian and Victorian architecture.
There are many shops and cafes scattered around the town, mainly specialist and family owned businesses, and with a sports centre, bowling alley and tennis courts there is plenty to see and do.
