'Get fell in' for the new Cumbrian Festival!

The weekend long event is being held to attract outdoor lovers from far and wide to enjoy the spectacular countryside and take part in the many events which are planned. Heritage lottery funding makes hay in Cumbria!

2000 years worth of managed rare hay meadows will now stay as part of the future for Cumbria's stunning countryside. Thanks to the heritage lottery funding a project aimed at preserving the wildlife habitat and breathtaking flower meadows in the uplands can now go ahead. Over £400,000 has been allocated to ensure that the work on restoration and preservation can continue.

Vintage Classic Motors take on Fleetwith Pike!

Over a hundred vintage cars and their owners gathered at Honister at the weekend for the annual fell rally, taking them to the dizzy height of 648 metres at the top of Fleetwith Pike. Donning their best traditional finery and braving the elements as well as the hair raising winding roads, hundreds of enthusiasts turned out to enjoy the spectacle.

The stunning and colourful displays have drenched the skies over Derwentwater near Keswick due to solar particles from a geomagnetic storm being blown south from above the Arctic Circle.
