'Get fell in' for the new Cumbrian Festival!

Cumbria is looking forward to hosting a brand new event this April, with the launch of the Cumbrian Fell Festival. The weekend long event is being held to attract outdoor lovers from far and wide to enjoy the spectacular countryside and take part in the many events which are planned. The festival is to be held in Cockermouth and will run throughout the weekend of the 6th and 7th of April.

Prominent BBC man Eric Robson is taking up the challenge of promoting the wonderful outdoor activities for which the fells is renowned. He will be giving a passionate talk at the Kirkgate Centre on Saturday the 6th where visitors will be able to learn about the activities available year round in the fells.

Throughout ‘Fell Fest' there will be non stop events for cyclists, walkers and fell runners with the emphasis on protecting the environment and making the most of the countryside for which local man Eric has a passion. For the less energetic country lovers there will be more sedate events to enjoy, with live music, a fashion show, photography competition, lots of trade stands and of course the local shops and cafes to explore.

Visitors will be able to see displays by the mountain rescue service and the National Trust. Why not go along and join in a family fell run or take up some navigational training, courtesy of Lakeland Mountain Guides. The festival promises to be a great event for all ages and abilities and will certainly be a weekend to remember!
