Olympic Torch in The Lake District 21st June

On its way to the opening ceremony on the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Olympic torch will be travelling through the Lake District on June 21st - day 34 of its journey. Starting in Dumfries the torch will travel south to Carlisle and then via the Cumbrian Coast on to Bowness-on-Windermere.

The relay for the London 2012 Olympics Torch spends Thursday 21st, which is day 34, in the Lake District and Cumbria. The torch starts the day in southern Scotland at Dumfries and heads south into Cumbria. There are many vantage points to see the torch throughout the region. Local residents and visitors should be aware that there will be road closures and inevitable traffic delays, so leave plenty of time for journeys.
