Volunteers get fell in for Lake District Care Days!

Friends of the Lake District are organising two Fell Care Day events this Autumn in support of the Flora of the Fells Project. The high profile days will take place at Ullswater on Thursday 27th September and Windermere on Thursday 25th October, and volunteers are now being sought to help with the conservation works.

Following the success of last years event, experienced team leaders are encouraging local supporters to help with important conservation work, including repairs to footpaths, dry stone walling, care of the woodlands and clearing of drains, to help keep this stunning countryside stunning. They are also seeking support by targeting businesses, offering outdoor team building events and asking for donations and sponsorship for the Fell Care Days. In return they will be raising the profile of the local businesses, and hopefully be attracting more business to the area for them and the local community by media advertising. Local schools and activity groups are also being helped by the fundraising which will include purchasing bat and bird boxes and garden tools to encourage children to become interested in and want to conserve the unique wildlife and abundant natural habitats which surround the Lakes.
