Full Description: For somewhere so remote from the pressures of the present day, Bower House is remarkably accessible to the traveller in Western Lakeland, less than 4 miles from the main Cumbrian Coast road.

Of course, if time is no matter and you have the spirit of adventure, you can approach Eskdale Green and the inn via fell roads of quite awe-inspiring beauty.

But of the inn itself? Very old, stone built. Alongside the village cricket field and almost engulfed in gardens. A warren of rooms seemingly heaped one on the other with neither plan nor reason. The accommodation is exceedingly comfortable and the company convivial.

The bar too is more than a few steps back in time - the electronic age has no place, nor will it. Crackling logs, ticking clocks, the buzz of conversations about anything under the sun, cricket, hound dogs, the price of an acre and who said what to who and why.
