Full Description: Braithwaite nestles at the bottom of Whinlatter Pass with the spectacular backdrop of Grisedale Pike and with Bassenthwaite Lake only a short distance away. Situated at the start of both the Whinlatter Pass and Newlands valley, and offering direct access to Loweswater, Crummock Water and Buttermere, Braithwaite makes an excellent base for touring the Lake District National Park. Its easy access to the A66 gives Braithwaite unrivalled access to other parts of Cumbria, North Yorkshire including the spectacularly beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. Keswick is only two miles away and Penrith and the M6 motorway only a further 8-10 miles

The accommodation in the village is wide-ranging including outstanding hotels, pubs, guesthouses, B + B 's, excellent campsite’s with self-catering chalets and static caravans to rent.

With some of the best walking in the Lakes right on the doorstep and facilities for sailing, climbing, abseiling, canoeing, hang-gliding, parasailing, orienteering, bird watching (Osprey), photography and virtually any other outdoor pursuit all within four miles the area is a must for adventure holidays.
