Carlisle is the Gateway City to the imposing Hadrians Wall World Heritage site. You can now walk the whole 80mile stretch of the Hadrians Wall Walk thanks to the newly opened National Trail Path. The walk stretched from Newcastle upon Tyne on the Eastern Coast to the Solway on the West Coast. A great way to explore Carlisle and its surrounding regions is by following the footpath where you will discover lots more about its history and heritage. You will also come across some of the regions best tourist attractions such as Birdoswald Roman Fort to the Solway Coast Discovery Centre.
