Bleheim Lodge

Dales Way is a well routed long distance footpath which encompasses the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. 80 miles long and with numerous stopping places in the most wonderful locations, it makes an ideal adventure for families and groups of walkers.

An exciting expedition across the North of England, taking in the wonderful Lake District, the Dales Way is a long distance footpath of about 80 miles (129 km) situated in the north of England and running from Ilkley to Bowness-on-Windermere.

By following as far as possible riverside paths, it offers stunning scenery, abundant wildlife and is an attractive route from urban West Yorkshire to the Lake District, which any reasonably fit family can undertake in a week's holiday.

Although in places it is not always well served by public transport the Way passes through many villages, and so accommodation is not a problem, although it is advisable to book in advance. At Bownwess-on-Windermere, the Dales Way Footpath runs right by walker friendly hotels and guest houses enroute and some are  literally a minute's walk from the footpath.

Walkers are welcomed in this area and well catered for, made at home, often offered a cuppa and biscuits, and a chance to rest weary feet. Most hotels have outside taps for cleaning boots and drying rooms for damp clothes are usually available too.
