Full Description: Egremont is a Market Town with an extensive historical and industrial heritage, and is nestled at the foot of Uldale Valley and Dent Fell. The remains of a 12th century Norman Castle are situated at the southern end of Main Street near the Market Place.
Egremont has many unique and interesting places to enjoy including Castles, Heritage Museum, Florence Mine, Hartleys Ice cream, Lowes Court Gallery, ramble, fauna and flora all around and especially in the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) nature reserve, Cycle Paths, fish and much more.
The town is a good location for exploring the area including, the lakes, fells and of course the coast, which are all within a short distance either by car, bike, foot or horse!!
Egremont Crab Fair & Sports takes place on the 3rd Saturday in September each year. There are many sporting events and shows especially the world famous Gurning Championships (ugliest face pulling).
Egremont has a regular bus service and a taxi rank in the town centre.
