Full Description: Eskdale remains a beautiful unspoilt area in the heart of the Lake District, it’s a valley with many spectacular features, from Wasdale in the north to Devoke Water in the south. There is a blend of rugged unforgiving landscape to gentle rolling hillsides with tranquil flowing rivers and streams. The Narrow Gauge Ravenglass steam railway likes at the foot of the fells, it terminates at the Dalegarth station. A trip on the railway provides some stunning views along with that old fashioned feeling of the bygone era of the steam train.

Walkers and climbers are drawn from all over the world, to the Scafell, The Pikes and the Great end. Scafell is the highest summit in England. Nestling amongst all the mountains and crags the river Esk winds its way around, featuring many spectacular water falls as it flows down the gully.

The village of Eskdale Green provides all the local amenities, including accommodation, such as the King George 1V Hotel and Inn, popular for its character and tradition. There are many restaurants, cafes and shops and plenty of places to stay both centrally and in more remote locations to suit all pockets. Caravan and camping sites are also plentiful throughout the Eskdale valley. The nearby centre of Boot is also very well equipped and provides a central location for exploring the surrounding area. The valley caters for everyone from those looking for activity and action, to those out for a gentle stroll and relaxation in stunning unspoilt surroundings in an area of outstanding beauty.
