Full Description:
Glenridding is situated at the bottom of the Kirkstone Pass at the Southern end of the Ullswater Lake. It is a focal point for the Ullswater area and acts as the central point for people visiting Ullswater. The main reason visitors come to the area is to visit the lake and view the stunning countryside, the area is also extremely popular with walkers. There are also opportunities to cruise on the lake you can board the lake steamers at various points including, Glenridding, Pooley Bridge which is at the North end of the lake or Howtown.

One Major attraction to walkers is the Helvellyn Walk which runs along Striding Edge this is a testing walk reaching a height of 3,116ft about 950 meters. Patterdale is a small village close by which also provides an ideal location and this is popular with walkers and has access to the fells and peaks around. Another area worthy of a visit is Aira Force this a waterfall located between rocks in an area on the north side of the lake on Gowbarrow Fell, particularly attractive after heavy rainfall. It has viewing bridges located at the top and bottom of the waterfall.

There are plenty of teas shops, public houses and accommodation to suit all in Glenridding and also close by in Patterdale. If you are looking for clothing or equipment this is also catered for in the local shops. Whether you are an experienced walker looking for a new challenge or someone just out for gentle strolls in the fresh air with stunning views then Glenridding will certainly for fill your wishes.
