Meadowbank Farm Studio is a listed farm building which houses a wonderful art gallery. For a day out with a differnce visitors to the studio are treated to some wonderful paintings whilst gaining an insight into the history of the ancient longhouse. 

A 21st century artist's studio and art gallery based in the Northern Lake District area of Cumbria, incorporating traditional vernacular features and materials in a modern design, exhibiting contemporary paintings by Sue Glassford and other artists.

A Grade II* listed clay, cruck thatched longhouse restored to its 17th century format with a grant from English Heritage. The house was occupied by the family of John Losh in the 17th Century.A farmer, whose descendants remained in the house for at least a hundred years. A 1666 date stone which sits over the front door bears the initials of John Losh and his wife, Dorothy.The single pair of crucks which are now visible in the middle of the house were inserted by John in what had previously been a simple clay house with the roof supported by clay cross walls.

There is some parking at Meadowbank and there is easy wheel chair access to the studio and part of the house.There is also a toilet for disabled visitors.

The house can be seen by appointment only.
