Pooley Bridge
Pooley Bridge is a historic, picturesque village on the edge of Ullswater in the Lake District. The village takes its name from its beautiful 16th century bridge which crosses the river Eamont nearby. The village was once an important market town but now is a well visited tourist attraction and its close proximity to Keswick and Ambleside makes it ideal as a base for touring the area.
Visitors to Pooley Bridge can enjoy a trip back in time, taking pleasure trips by steamer on the Lake, where a regular ferry service operates during the summer. This area is popular with campers and outdoor enthusiasts and there are a number of campsites as well as self catering cottages, hotels and guest houses. Fishing is very popular here and...
