David White is a qualified Blue Badge tourist guide for Cumbria, a member of the Institute of Tourist Guiding and one of the first in the country to gain an additional eco-tourism accreditation. In this role, David love's to share an insiders view of Cumbria with our many visitors.

He is happy to undertake anything from a half day to a multi day tour for groups large or small and have a particular interest in promoting 'low impact' forms of travel such as train, foot or bike (including the new electric versions). He can organise events and tours for individuals, special interest groups, study tours, wedding groups, friend weekends, coach parties or family groups.

He will put together an itinerary based on your particular interests or you can choose from a number of suggested topics, including:

- Touring some of Cumbria's beautiful 'hidden' villages which are off the beaten track and rarely visited but full of historical interest and featuring medieval castles and/or churches.

- Visiting some traditional Cumbrian farms to taste and buy excellent produce.

- Touring a selection of Cumbria's many micro breweries (currently 28, but changing every week).

- Uncovering Cumbria's industrial past through visits to remains of the many lead mines, slate quarries, lime kilns, gunpowder factories and bobbin mills, revealing something of the lives of the people employed in these industries.
